The brownie is a cross between a cake and a cookie in texture. Brownies come in a variety of forms. They are either fudgy or cakey, depending on their density, and they may include nuts, frosting, whipped cream, chocolate chips, or other ingredients. the following recipe is being tested and tried by me and my family , loved it.
2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3 eggs
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
Method
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13 by 9 by 2-inch pan.
Stir together flour, granulated sugar, and salt in a bowl. Add butter, eggs, orange extract, and orange zest. Using a handheld electric mixer, beat until well blended. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes, or until light golden brown and set. Remove from oven, allow to cool and pierce entire cake with a fork. Spread the Orange Cream Cheese Frosting over completely cooled brownies. Cut into squares.
Orange glaze
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
4 tablespoons softened butter
1 (1-pound) box confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons orange zest
2 tablespoons orange juice
In a large mixing bowl, whip the butter and cream cheese together with a hand-held electric mixer. Gradually beat in the confectioners' sugar until it is all combined and smooth. Beat in the orange zest and juice. Spread over brownies.
Any one who likes orange would love it.This is a very simple recipe which I grabbed from the website of Paula Deen ( One of the Great American celebrity chef ) , she's such a wonderful cook a fun loving and always happy when ever I have seen her in tv.
No much fancy looks , though I have tried to make it fancy ;) but I can assure you , tastes awesome , don't forget to make the orange glace too , the recipe follows.
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3 eggs
1/4 cup sour cream (optional or else add thick curd )
2 teaspoons pure orange extract1 teaspoon grated orange zest
If you don't have cream cheese and also if you want to make a lighter glaze , you can try the following
Orange extract - 1/2 orange
Sour cream - 2 table spoon ( if you don't have sour cream , try to add whipping cream , of course the quantity would be a little more and also you will have to beat it a bit)
Powdered Sugar - 1/4cup
Orange zest - 1/2 tsp
Mix all the above ingredients and pour over the cooled Orange Brownie's
Enjoy an OrangY Dessert
