Ingredients
Gopi / Cauliflower - 1/2 of 1 medium size head , cut in to florets
Any colored bell Peppers / capsicum - 1 to 2 (use different colors if you have'em)
Onion - 1 medium size
Garlic - 3 to 4 no's chopped
Red chili powder - 1 Tb Sp (Optional , I used Kashmiri chili)
Tomato Ketchup - 2 to 3 Tb Sp
Green onion's - for garnishing
For Batter
All purpose flour - 1/4 cup (Approx)
Corn Flour - 2 Tb Sp
Tomato ketchup - 2 Tb Sp
Soy Sauce - 2 Tb sp
Egg - 1 (optional)
Water - if the batter looks thick , add little water to make it loose.
Salt
Oil for frying
Method
* Make batter with the ingredients given for " Batter " , sprinkle little water if it looks thick ,
Keep aside.
(May omit egg and make the batter with water but egg helps to bind all the ingredients well and prevents'em from sticking while frying)
* Boil florets in water with a pinch of turmeric (optional) and salt just for 10 minutes.
* Heat oil in a non stick pan , shallow fry these batter - coated florets ,till light brown and looks crispy from out side. Transfer to a paper towel lined plate.
For the sauce/Gravy
Cut the peppers in to different shapes...if possible use different colored peppers
To make the dish little more interesting ;)
* In an other pan , heat 2 Tb Sp oil (may use the same oil in which the florets were fried)
add first the chopped garlic pieces , followed by onion , saute just for few minutes in high heat.
*Add in the capsicum / peppers and stir in high heat for another few minutes (3 minutes Approx) and then add Red chili Powder (if using)
* Add then the sauces (tomato sauce , soy sauce) and then the fried florets , stir till the florets are nicely coated with the gravy/sauce , keeping heat in medium to low.
I added the rest of the batter too along with the sauces , didn't want to waste it ,
it makes the gravy little thick but it may spoil the color and look of the dish....so its optional
* Add a pinch of salt , stir and keep the heat to medium-low , may sprinkle little water (it helps to combine all flavors well) cook for 5 minutes and switch off the heat.it makes the gravy little thick but it may spoil the color and look of the dish....so its optional
*Transfer to a serving bowl , garnish with chopped green onion.
Serve with fried rice.
Enjoy
Cheers
