Gooey Butter Cake

Some time ago , it happened that , I came across a special aisle in Walmart having some food stuffs on sale and this Gooey Butter cake of Paula Deen ( An American Celebrity chef) seemed to be very appealing to me , this was on sale because they over baked it ,we bought these and it tasted awesome , after that I wish these gooey butter cake be over baked by Deen and company at least once in a month...so that I can get'em on sale...Anyways it never happened till now so I decided to try making'em at home.

Its super delicious and a must try recipe...its semi home made as the recipe I extracted from Paula Deen 's blog , is made with "Yellow cake mix"  which we get in the grocery store.Gooey butter cake from scratch seemed to be little complicated and time consuming too so decided to go with Paula's original recipe itself. Since I was trying it for the first time tried it with half the scale measurements and its more than enough for just the 3 of us here.

Ingredients

For the Base

1 and 1/4 cup of vanilla cake mix Powder
1 Egg
4 table spoon butter (melted)

I used this (moist cake mix)...I think its would have been better if its the regular yellow cake mix.

For the Filling/Topping

1/2 of 8 oz package cream cheese (softened, in room temperature)
1 egg
1/2 tsp Vanilla
4 table spoon Butter melted
1 cup confectionery sugar (Or super fine sugar )

Direction

* Preheat the oven to 350 degree F. Grease a cake pan (small square shap) with Butter and keep aside.
* First prepare the base , melt 4 tablespoon Butter , Combine 1 and 1/4 cup cake mix and 1 egg with the melted mutter , use an egge beater if you have one , or else work with your hands to mix the 3 ingredients well. Pat the ingredients in to the bottom of the greased cake pan.

* In a large bowl , beat cream cheese (should be in room temperature) , 1 egg , 4 table spoon Butter and 1 cup confectionery sugar , till all ingredients are very well mixed.

My egg beater stopped working :( and am trying my best to show my sponsor that am in need of one ;)
Hope to get one soon....

*Pour the Cream cheese mixture over the base cake mixture and spread. (Do not mix both layers)

* Bake for 45 to 50 minutes in 350 degree F , hey do not over bake :) as the center should be little gooey.Gooey Butter cake is ready now.
Sprinkle confectionery sugar on top (optional) and serve.

Enjoy

Cheers
